I always hated homework and thought a lot of it was unnecessary, even to this day at age 75. I lived on a farm, & unlike city kids, had a lot of chores that ate up time. I think that present day kids have even worse amounts of homework, so this comic has a lot of truth, although exaggerated.

What’s with the backpacks? When I was a kid we would carry a book, maybe two, and a binder. What do the kid carry in those overstuffed backpacks?

When I was in school, they claimed there was a limit of 30 minutes of homework per day. They forgot to mention it was 30 minutes per subject.

Gotta compete with the Japanese, Koreans, Indians, Chinese, etc. etc… You don’t see them complaining about sending their kids to another school as an after-school activity, or going to class on Saturdays, now do you?

Homework is the ruination of home life. Imagine if YOU had to work all day, come home and HAD to continue working your job for no additional pay. I’m not talking about work from home, I’m talking about additional work AT home. I know I wouldn’t do it. I sent a note to my sons’ teachers every year until high school stating I would not approve them doing schoolwork from home. Interestingly, they never were assigned any until high school. I told them it was their decision then.
