In my late 50s, as part of a physical, a doctor did this classic test of reflexes. Never had it done before. I said I was familiar with the procedure only via sitcoms and cartoons, where the usual result is the doctor being kicked to the other side of the room. She was good enough to explain the purpose of the test.
