Absolutely! Sometimes it seems like dogs have a few leftover barks or howls rattling around inside somewhere, that they just have to let out. And so they do. Loudly! Ah, well. That’s my explanation for dogs’ howling or barking at what we humans think is nothing.

My dog howls whenever she hears another dog crying. Must be dog sympathies.
