I have built my own street rods, doing most of the work except the interior. My point is, I read instructions all the time. Anyone who thinks they know it all, well I think you get it.

I would have reacted the same way. Never used chloroform in my life, but I could think of nothing else you put on a cloth for someone to inhale.
BTW, there’s an extraneous comma in the narration of panel 4.
