In these trying times Hubbs has only himself for help, I don’t think there could’ve been a better way to do this metaphor.

Wait, by saying “run” is young Hubbs telling his future self to run away from his family? I admit no one is Ellie’s biggest fan right now, but I don’t think running out on her and Al is the answer.

Don’t leave your kid or the woman you love, you will regret it. You need to confront her and talk, and talk, and talk.

Goodbye, Hubbs. Your name is too ironic for marriage.

Yeah, I don’t see this arc ending on a happy note…

To coin a well-worn phrase from Star Wars, “I’ve got a bad feeling about this…”

In other words, GO AND DO A TEST FOR THE PLAY OFFS, IT DOESN’T MATTER IF ELLIE APPROVES IT OR NOT, YOU MUST GIVE YOU A CHANCE!!!, because no one else will do it for you.

I only see this ending well if there is outside intervention. People can’t live in their own bubbles, no matter how hard they try. Ellie is in hers, and we’re NOT getting her perspective, only Hubbs’.

It’s entirely possible that Ellie’s perspective on the matter will change things drastically. But as things stand, neither will hear the other out. Communication is key, ESPECIALLY between two loons like these.

So the others need to come in and wake them up. Hard. I predict Gabby to the rescue!

Becoming a pro quarterback is a ship that has sailed. Perhaps Hubbs should look into coaching, at any level?
