I loved that whole album (A Tramp Shining) at the time, and still enjoy listening to it occasionally. It’s too bad the unfortunate section about the cake left in the rain has come to epitomize the song and album for so many people.

Not one of Jimmy Webb’s best songs, in my opinion. He did do a lot of drugs in the ’60s . . . . :)
