Many years ago, my then-wife and I enrolled in an algebra refresher course at the community college. The first night, she sat directly behind me in class. As the instructor droned on, belaboring some obvious point, I drew zzzzzzzzz all across a row in my notebook and showed it to her. Shortly thereafter, the instructor touched on the point that to be able to tell a âzâ from a â2,â we should always put a slash through our zâs. So naturally I put a slash through all the zâs Iâd written, and showed that to my wife. I got a strong poke in the back from a giggling woman for my trouble.
Common Core sucks! To take away the wonderful world of cursive is cheating a person of his personal trait, his creativeness, his expressions, his artistic ability. It just incenses me when I give a card to my grandkids and they canât read it. What kind of bull is this? a you know the TV commercialâŠ.âTHE MORE YOU KNOWâŠ.â ? They have taken it awayâŠCommon Core had dumbed down America and I donât recognize it any more! It has put this nation at the bottom of the academic list compared to other countries, where we used to be at the top! Thanks to BILL GATES, OBAMA and all the Governors who signed on to this Cirriculum our country canât even read, spell or have in debt learningâŠ.BOO HISS
He or she that is unable to read cursive will not be able to read the original Declaration of Independence, strangely not signed by George Washington for some reason that John Hancock didnât have.
When I was in college, I thought taking a shorthand course might help in notetaking. I signed up through Adult Education and went to the first class at the local elementary school.
âEveryone look at the letters above the blackboard and repeat after me âAâ âŠâŠâŠâŠ"Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Never went back.

Do they even teach cursive anymore? I heard that some schools stopped teaching it, at least for a while.
