This brought back a memory. In 1962, as a freshman at Cal Berkeley, I saw a bench that said ‘reserved for senior men’. Today it might say ‘reserved for senior students’, or perhaps nothing at all. Today the word ‘senior’ means something a lot different than it did for me while in college. (Oy Vey, my back !!)

I’ve often seen this tranquil setting in cemeteries.

Reminds me of my college days. Benches like this one were all over the campus. Great memory.

Kind of a visual pun, in that it can be two different things: A marble bench or a cement bench with a tree shadow across it. Very nice.

I like this, Dan. There is a certain evocative melancholy about it.

Give us more!! My wife is a watercolorist and I really like the sketches she does preparatory to picking up a brush.

Love artists’ sketches; they’re immediate, intimate and personal.

The stone bench that came with our 100+ year old house. We’ve lived here 44 years.
