My Reformed Lutheran friend tells me that his strictest reading of scripture makes it absolutely impossible for a person to know if he or anyone will be saved or damned, and that any actions whatever that people take or don’t take cannot determine the likelihood. But since the Bible also commands certain behaviors and devotion to Yahweh/Jesus, he takes those as immutable divine orders.

This either explains a lot or absolutely nothing.

Maybe because he gave you a beautiful life on a beautiful planet and you chose to close yourself in false dignity and piety. Instead of bringing joy to the world you brought misery into your life and that of everyone you came in contact with.
