That is a perfectly legitimate question, Adam. In “Peanuts Begins” today, Schultz talked about CBs “drop ball”, which I think is the “sinker”, so Rob’s “spiral” is probably the “screw ball."
for those who do not play football [i.e., those who think soccer IS football] this might be a handy reference: https://www.bing.com/videos/search?q=throwing+a+spiral+football+youtube&docid=608037287509440736&mid=1E5EA959E90663F9343C1E5EA959E90663F9343C&view=detail&FORM=VIRE
My experience with pro sports in general, American Football included, is that it’s a mans game and those males who proclaim to be “real men” know every single detail. I learned to enjoy it for awhile when I was still married to my second husband. He was and is a fanatic about not only football, but depending on the season every sport that could be televised with the exception of golf. When we split, I never again watched another game of any sport, including the Super Bowls. Don’t miss it a bit. To be fair I’m sure you men out there have a similar tale to tell about us women. Mars and Venus my friends, Mars and Venus.
