In the UK, until the 70s, ice cream was only available in vanilla, chocolate or strawberry, although fancy restaurants would serve sorbets of fruit flavors. During the Second World War, citizens had learned to “make do” and did not splash out into wild adventurous flavor experiences for a couple of decades. :)
