By the way. My first payday is January 27th. It’s usually the 28th but that falls on a weekend this month.

For a moment I thought Bev was back then I noticed the post was from 10 months ago. Too bad, I wish she would come back to us. The promised “New improved” GoComics should happen soon. We will see what we shall see. BTW: It’s about time for a new Village. The old one was getting pretty stale.

I’m wondering if we will still have this Village after the next “improvement” Monday.

Oh no. I’m in the minority again.

Because of the change, I guess everybody will be leaving now and the Village will be dead… again.

This Village ain’t what it used to be!

If we leave, it will be a sign that no one cares….. BUT we do care, so we should stay.

These workers from a huge company in my area have all been made redundant and so I’m the first point of contact to get them onto our system. One guy who I spoke to on the phone was a right laugh. You get cheerful people and miserable people. Although I would be miserable too if I lost my job.

On another “Who Cares?” note, I have a dentist appointment next Tuesday. I can’t freakin’ wait.

@NUMBER SIXHi Steve. I’m glad to see the Village is still available. Maybe with a little publicity we can get it going again. I might even continue my rant about my past lives.

In my opinion. This world was destroyed long before Trump came along.

So I personally couldn’t give a -- about who the president is. Or in our case the Prime Minister. Makes no difference to me. The world got destroyed a very long time ago.

It was my first payday today. Just letting you Americans know that the money goes straight into our bank. We don’t actually get cheques to cash in. But I did get my first payslip on Wednesday. It tells me how much National Insurance I’m paying too.

At least save that payslip as a souvenir or maybe frame it. At any rate Congrats on being gainfully employed. You don’t want to be another Andy. I’m referring to his attitude toward work not beer.

I saw a wonderful sight today.

My wages are officially in my bank. I saw it in my bank book.

However my boss recommended that I open a current account because she thinks it will be easier for me to check my wages have went in because I can check it online and I will get a debit card if I ever need to get some money when I’m out and about, I can go to a Cashpoint.

She’s right because I personally think I’m too old for a savings account now.

It turns out I don’t pay tax. Just National Insurance.

Can you still get parts for those Penny-Farthings?

Had a distressing time yesterday. A man phoned up to say that he won’t be attending this course he was originally going to start with us because his 90 year old father is dying and doesn’t have a lot of time left. He phoned the Jobcentre explaining his situation but they didn’t seem to care much (disgusting) I had no choice but to ask him to call back later because everybody was either on the phone or seeing a client. When he phoned again I transferred him to an advisor.

I’m not exactly trained to deal with vulnerable people but I comforted him in the best way I could. He was lovely and kept calling me Sweetheart. (Well I am a sweetheart) I could swear he was crying down the phone.

Before him, another guy phoned up and said that the Jobcentre is not accepting his sick note from the doctor (disgusting again) and then his friend phoned up because the man was having a panic attack.

All of this in one morning. It really doesn’t get any easier.

I love this guy and how he practically sings about anything and everything.

I’m sorry to hear all that. I have never had any problems with the Jobcentre. Don’t hate me, I think I was just lucky. How is your current job going?

Incidentally my special talent is that I can walk and chew gum at the same time.

But at my age just breathing is quite an accomplishment.

Well, Villagers. I got my debit card today. Last Friday I received an automatic email saying my current account is open and yesterday I got a letter saying pretty much the same.

All I have yet to receive is my PIN number.

Is it sad that I feel “proud” to get my first debit card?

Do any Villagers have Facebook?

I’m thinking about getting it to keep in touch with more family members. And if you can do lots of fun stuff on it like play games, share and “Like” pics then why not? It’s more than you can do on GoComics that’s for sure!

I’ve been adamant that I don’t want any social networking but people do have a habit of changing their minds.

I joined Facebook today. I like it!

However I’m only having family and family friends on it. Nobody from GoComics I’m afraid.

I saw a car today called “Toyota Starlet”

I had a little giggle at that because Affie’s nickname for me is Starlet.

A while ago, I saw a beautiful Chevrolet car. It looked brand new.

Cars are great. Even though they are not “environmentally friendly”

I know nobody really comments here anymore so I’m just talking to myself.

It was my second payday today and I checked online to see if my wages have gone in. They have. It was a delight to see a rather large number in my bank account.

Finally! There’s some action in the Village.

I’m starting to wonder whether it’s really worth continuing the Village if hardly anybody comes.

Anyway, Just an update on myself. My Business Administration apprenticeship is going very well and on Facebook I added a “Life Event” which I named “First Payslip” Facebook will remind me of that on 25th January next year!

I donated my 16th pint of blood on 7th March and got confirmation a week later to say my blood had been issued to a Sunderland hospital.

What’s going on with anybody else? Anything new?

I come here every day but there’s no one to react with.

That must be exhausting for you. They ask in job interviews “Why do you want this job?” And you’re not supposed to say “For the money” although it’s pretty obvious that we ALL do it for the money. Nobody expects to earn a living by working for free. Just my point of view.

Of course money is an important factor but job satisfaction is also important. For example: I would prefer a job interfacing with people to a higher paying one doing manual labor alone.

They should hold donor sessions on a weekend but then the place would be packed and those without appointments have no chance.

Hey, Villagers.

I filled in an online form to order a DNA testing kit for Ancestry. I just think it’ll be interesting to see if I’m any other nationality apart from English going back from a couple of thousand years ago.

Probably seems a bad idea to all of you but it’ll only be the once and nothing will change whatever my results are.

What does everyone think? I’ve already ordered the kit so no going back. Just wondering if anybody has done the same/been thinking of doing it.

By the time somebody comments here, I will have probably received my results!

Well, Villagers. I have done my DNA test. When I’ve got the results, I’m posting a video to Youtube. So expect a video in about 6-8 weeks because that’s how long it’s meant to take to get results.

I will be posting the link here if anybody is interested and emailing it to a couple of others who don’t come to the Village and putting it on Facebook.

I too am looking forward to seeing your video. I have traced my surname back to the 1600’s. Looks like we were from Ireland (County Tyrone) and also Scotland (Ayrshire).My paternal grandmother was half American Indian. I have a picture of her and her fatherwho was European, probably Spanish. The pic dates back to the mid 1800’s.

Apparently my DNA sample hasn’t arrived at Ancestry yet and it was posted off on Tuesday. I have looked around online and there is a forum where other people are having the same problem. I think it’s a glitch with the website. The four stages are “Activated, Arrival, Lab Processing and Done” Mine has only got “Activated” highlighted.

I wish we could still post pics on here, I would love to see pics of your family. I remember one with you and your Dad.
