Well, at least it’s over… I’d have delved into people walking through nature with their heads hunched over their phones, reading texts while talking to friends, similar silliness.
One, it cites a CNN pole in which it is claimed that „one third“ of Americans said that Biden hadn’t won enough votes to „legitimately“ win the presidency. The number is then refined by saying that 70% of Republicans believe that Biden didn’t win enough votes to win the presidency.
Two, that Republicans are now in some kind of „no man’s land“, where to criticize, or even support someone critical of, Donald Trump, will leave them considered as „traitors“ to the Republican Party and yet still to conservative to be accepted by Democrats and independents (emphasis mine).
Significant about number one is, in 2020, Biden won by a bigger margin than Trump did in 2016, and yet that is not enough to satisfy the Republican Party. I suppose that’s because Republicans still believe that „flipping“ the Electoral College is more important than actually appealing to the people at the ballot box.
And yes, the article also notes that Republican controlled states are full-steam-ahead on voter restriction laws.
Also still focusing on number one, it is significant that the poll cites roughly one third of Americans as believing Biden is an illegitimate President and that includes 70% of Republicans. Doing some numbers in my head, that 70% of Republicans would appear to make up that roughly one third of Americans who disbelieve that Biden is the president.
That pretty much makes Biden’s „legitimacy“ as president perhaps one of the most partisan issues of the day: If you’re a Democrat, Biden is the President; if you’re a Republican, Biden is a coup. There is no middle ground.
‘Shouting into the void’: Trump’s social media launch laughed off by experts
“Former President Donald Trump’s new ‘communication platform’ launched this week was widely mocked as little more than a ‘glorified blog,’” reported Thomas Colson. “The site — revealed on Tuesday — followed Trump’s longtime adviser Jason Miller promising that Trump would soon create a social media platform that would ‘completely redefine the game’ on social media.”
“‘A challenge for Trump is that the most effective online engagement requires interaction,’ Peter Loge, associate professor school of media and public affairs at the George Washington University, told Insider,” continued the report. “‘Fans want to feel as if they have a relationship with their favorite celebrity. These ’parasocial relationships’ are what keep fans coming back and buying more stuff,’ he said. ‘At this point, Trump is just shouting into the void. He isn’t letting anyone shout back.’”

I don’t normally do the Silly Season thing, but the following news article is of note – even if it is depressing to Republicans and Democrats alike:

Two significant quotes from the article:
