In the real world he’d be tail-wagging and uber-eager to go walkies as soon as you grab the leash. Mine actually starts barking.

Much easier for the vet to just walk the dog more.

That’s what you get when you go to one of those Weird Vets.

Hm, Gumbo seems to be communicating with Adam telepathically.

This could be a good book idea. “An Adam and his dog”

Adam can find food for them and Gumbo can find …

Hm, Laura may not be happy about this.

Sometimes you have to trick dumb animals into doing what is good for them

    Laura knows this

Adam can’t rely on the vet telling he might be overweight.Only his own doctor can vet that message.

Hey, it takes a lot of muscle and resolve to move all this blubber to the bathroom.

It would depend on how close the relationship is with the Vet. Some are really good the have better “bedside” manner than “human” Doctors. My recently deceased wife worked at a Veterinary Hospital since 1989 as a pet groomer.

Panel #3 looks like Gumbo is saying Harrell. He wouldn’t be out of line, of course, because if he and Adam are not in good shape, it IS Harrell’s fault.

i have always thought it weird that a dr can tell you that you are overweight and need to get more exercise and eat healthy but then there they are over weight and not heeding their own advice (that you and / or your ins is paying for.]

The dog is meserble. He need his snack not a hot under the collar doctor lecturing pet owners what to feed their pets.
