Actually, most birds do hear through their feet by feeling vibrations.When they hop about, their feet create a micro seismic trembling that their feet will pick up disturbances or oddities in the normal earth seismic pattern to which they feel normal.
We have an oriole with excellent eyesight. I saw him at the feeder today (from inside the house), slowly reached for my camera, but the motion scared him off.
