My Husband was our small town dispatcher, before the County had 911, then still took some of the Police, Fire & EMT calls. My Sister’s kids were in 4H. When their club was studying 1st aid, My Husband arranged for one of the EMTs to talk with them. He gave them different emergencies, asking what they would do if there was a fire, someone was choking, bleeding, broke a bone, etc. Keep in mind this was the mid-’90’s, before kids had cell phones. One little girl answered first each time, with the SAME answer to everything, “Call 911”. “But what if you were out in the woods, and your friend fell out of a tree and broke her arm ?” “Go find a phone, and call 911”.
I’m convinced that most people in the US are like Tucker. The need to learn about living off the land is pointless. Learning how to live off the land would be forgotten for lack of use. For them, planning ahead for disaster and packing a go-bag with some emergency supplies and a first-aid kit would be enough.

Let’s call survival skills “Plan B”, just in case “The Woods” are outside of Grub Hub’s delivery area.
