Mature foxes weight approximately 12-15 lbs. Most cats are also around that weight. Cats also come with âmurder mittsâ aka clawed paws as standard equipment, so foxes leave them alone.
One summer there was a gray fox in my neighborhood that used to follow me while I was walking my dogs (just through one part of the neighborhood). My cat would also follow me, and the first time I saw the fox I thought it was my cat, until I realized the cat was farther away! . (He followed us whether my cat was with us or not!) My male cat did not seem at all threatened by him, but they were the same size. My female was a little more intimidated, but everything intimidated her! Mind you, my dogs were 100 lbs each, so it always seemed strange to me that a fox would follow them!

âPeekaboo, you idiot! When you said he was âa foxâ yesterday, we thought you meant a good-looking cat!â

Oh come on guys, foxes are really just cat software running on dog hardwareâŠ

I always assumed my cats were on a first name basis with the local foxes. Of course, our gray foxes were no bigger than the cats, so not much threat.
