My wife just told me about a flash flood in Arkansas that wiped out a campground in the middle of the night that came so fast that the people were unable to escape. The campground records were destroyed so they do not know the extant of casualties. We have been there and I even bought a T shirt from the place. You just may never know when your time is up. Scary.
Good Morning/Afternoon!Dry, thank you very much for the honorary breakfast. That was very sweet of you. Love ya girlfriend!
Doc, thank you for sharing Mighty Mouse’s inspiring story. May she continue to do well always!
Good for all you to get involved with the “Relay for Life.”
My Mom is very involved with the one in my hometown. She always makes a survivor candle for me. I’m praying she won’t have to make the other kind of candle for me any time soon.
I’m sorry I ditched you all yesterday. I was having a crazy day. First the BB thing, it was the last day of school for 3 of my girls ( my oldest graduated on Thursday). We had a rep from the phone company making our house digital and there was a slight problem. I was running here and there. Glad it’s over!
BTW, I slept for 12 hours straight, I haven’t done that in a long time!
First, to Doc Thanks for the Mighty Mouse story. She sounds like a resilient young lady
CleoLonewolf, you are so right about not knowing. Yesterday about 10:15am I was at work, talking to a customer on the phone, when my throat just closed up and I couldn’t breathe. It was the scariest 5 million years….excuse me…30-45 seconds of my life. I don’t know how I managed to get my airway open again. The building management has a ”first response” team and they came up and checked my vitals and got me on oxygen. I was breathing, but my airway kept threatening to close.
I was transported to the emergency room and my supervisor and *HR* contacted my husband to tell him what was happening. My supervisor followed the ambulance and brought my husband and son up to date.
Long story short, I spent 4.5 hours in the ER and it was diagnosed as a bronchial spasm. THey’re not sure if I have asthma, but I have an emergency inhaler just in case it happens again. I did a lot of sleeping/resting yesterday afternoon, evening and night, and seem to be ok now. Hubby and I went to the office to pick up my car and I went grocery shopping. Slow and easy and no problems.
But that was the scariest 15 billion years….ok, 30-45 seconds I have ever had, including the time I was choking because at least when I was choking I knew if we got the thing out I’d be ok, and I was. I see my doctor Monday morning and should be cleared to return to work.
Hi, Carmy. I’ve only been lucky enough to sleep 7 hours straight once in recent memory. 12 hours would be great if I could do it once - but certainly not all the time. At best I usually sleep 5 hours straight.
Quaby I thought at first you were having an allergic reaction to something. That happens, happened to me, with anything containing walnuts, pecans, any tree nut. I have learned to be very careful when there is any doubt about ingredients. It’s a scary feeling, isn’t it? My lungs start to close off also.
(((Quaby))), how scary! I’m sorry you had to go through that. I’m glad you are doing okay now.
Grog, the problem for me with sleeping that long is that I just end up being more tired. I do much better with less sleep. Maybe like about 5 to 6 hours is good for me too.
Dry, are you going to be working on your garden?
Dry Problem is I’m not allergic to any foods that I’ve eaten. I had nothing new. The last thing I’d eaten was the first bite of a Milky Way (always the best), and it was thoroughly chewed and swallowed before the phone rang.
I was reading the material on bronchial spasms, and one thing caught my eye….there is a wheezing sound associated with broncospasms. Bronchospasms can cause a frequent cough w/o the constriction and wheezing. I’ve had a cough about 4-6 months, intermittent, but really annoying. I’m gonna mention it to my doctor on Monday.
I think I’m gonna go play Scrabble. A nice game of Scrabble should cheer me up.
Hello bmonk!Grog, 8 hours is too much sleep for me. I love your avatar! Blues Brother?
Dry, I hope you can beat the rain. We had a pretty good thunderstorm yesterday evening. Luckily, I had just returned from the grocery store. It didn’t last long but it had lightning, thunder and heavy rain. Before it rained, it hit 97 degrees, too hot!!
You guys are going to make me jealous. I can’t remember the last time I slept 2 hours without waking up at least once (and that’s including when I take sleeping pills).
Rain is good. I got stuck waiting for the bus under a overhang with two ladies who thought I was the sweetest thing for buying two bouquets of flowers for my one and only. I explained it was a dark and stormy night (the lights went out, a scream, and a shot). Perhaps one bouquet was not enough. I told the ladies I have spent thousands on flowers and never wasted a penny. Bet their husbands are cursing me about now.
Good afternoon all. Nice, partly cloudy, sunny and humid today. For sleep. I would love to sleep steady all night but can’t happen. I take 3 types of Dr. pills one is for muscles to relax and it effects all over therefore getting up every hour or two during the night until 6am or 7am then I’m up.
And because if talking is happening after 8:30 pm here or 9 at the latest then my night is up for awhile. Thats why I sometimes post here or go read.
Quaby my daughter used that expression 5hundred million years when it could be 2 to 3 minutes. In your case it should be a lifetime what a scare you had. I wondered to if it’s brought on by some food allergy. Good your going to the Dr.
Carmy congrats on your daughter’s graduation. How many more of your kids did u say have to finish HS.
Kab, Thank you for the congrats. Your picture is lovely. I have 3 other daughters and the next high school graduation will be in 4 years. Plenty of time to rest up for that one.
Carmy I’m glad you enjoyed the picture I thought it honors any graduate from HS to college. not sure where your first graduate is going for college or Jr. college. Since I don’t know where you live not sure of the job market in your state. Here jobs are droping and going electronic and robotic and on line. Some campus here have to change. Theres been one on TV talking about some classes for air craft I almost wish I could tell them it’s false advertising. One such plane maker is going for a 6 week shut down furlough.
I guess it’s time to call it quits maybe this time I will get more sleep I hope. And church is tomorrow.
I know a lot of older men not to many younger men go through this but I am asking everyone to keep my husband in your thoughts for Thursday as he goes for a dye test on his heart for Cath. Use to be ages ago it took 3 days being in the hospital to get this done now only one day. My how times have change. Technology has change but the body has not. My husband has no chest pains so this is a plus Dr. is suspicious of spots on his heart. Just asking our creator to be with us and make sure all is fine. I leave it in his hands as he knows best and gave the Dr. knowledge. I feel this is more serious then what I went in for my Rt shoulder. Found out though today my daughter’s dog Golden retriever is also good therapy for pulling my arm to loosen up muscle and bone for stretching.
I’m sorry I know this is not a prayer or church site and I went there as well but I felt everyone needs help.
cleo, if you’re around tonight, I just finished watching a movie I hadn’t seen in a very long time. It was called Lost Horizon. Great story & great cinematography.
It was one of those longer older movies that felt like it was all over within an hour. I enjoyed it very much.
Fellow Baby I know I saw Lost Horizon, but it has been so long, I totally forget! Was that the one about the plane coming down and they were lost somewhere?
Speaking of planes, did you ever see “Fate is the Hunter” with Glenn Ford and Rod Taylor? That was a GREAT movie!
And nothing about airplanes, but have you seen “Seven Days in May”?
Kab prayers on the way. While we’re officially not a ‘prayer’ site, when one of us advises of illness, either themselves, family or a fur-baby, prayers and thoughts go out.
Fellow Baby, I think Fate Is the Hunter was on TCM today, but I missed it. Seven Days In May does not sound familiar, but reminds me of a song by Blue Rodeo called 5 Days In May
Fellow Baby Then I don’t think I remember much about Lost Horizon.
Seven Days in May starred Burt Lancaster, Kirk Douglas, Fedric March, Ava Gardner, Martin Balsam, directed by John Franeknheimer, came out in the early 60’s about a group of military officers in the government who plot to take over the White House because the president is going to sign a nuclear disarmement treaty with Russia. Burt is the bad guy officer, Kirk is the good guy officer and Fredric March plays the president. It’s pretty good!

Fellow Baby, I think Fate Is the Hunter was on TCM today, but I missed it. Seven Days In May does not sound familiar, but reminds me of a song by Blue Rodeo called 5 Days In May

Fellow Baby I forgot to say, they were intentionally brought to Shangri-La in Lost Horizon
