    Hi, HopeandJoy♫

Not me, HopeandJoy♫. I follow the SEC and Notre Dame during the football season, but that’s it. I’d Follow the Red Sox & Habs, but with few exceptions, I don’t get those games locally - and I’m not willing to pay for the sports packages to get them. Football is quite enough.

Given the outlook for the NFL this year, I think I may have to stock up on a few of those 10 Greatest game DVD’s from some of my favorite teams around the NFL. I can’t possibly go without football on Sunday afternoons. I’d much rather forego it on Saturdays if the match-ups aren’t to my liking in College.

Hi, Sojo! - It has been overcast most of the day, but I hadn’t noticed any rain yet. I did check the forecast today and saw about a 50% chance. Hubby has been cashing in bonds from 30 years ago. Next year we have to decide if need take out more from pension for Federal. To pay on interest accured towards Federal. I was at my mom’s when rained. Had a little small hail to. Hubby and b/i/l had to get something fo b/i/l small vendor business sugar and flour and got caught in rain. Monday a little cooler then warming up fast Tuesday on.

We had a little light rain this evening. Earlier at was at my mom’s and heard sounded harder then rain. KAKE news weather had pictures of hail. Someone oragnized the hail as KAKE news took a picture of it. At least not sever. Also talked of light snow. Should be that bad and melt fast.

It’s spring. The dogwoods broke forth in white blossoms and now the green leaves are obscuring them. I noticed my white Saturn was faintly yellow…..we’re coming into pollen season. Last year it was really bad, turned our blue car yellow. When it rained the water puddles/rivulets were yellow. Yellow, yellow everywhere. Aachhooooo!

    Hi kab

Why are you paying interest on Federal? Do you have a tax balance from prior years? Or is Hubby not making installment payments?

The interest has to do with savings bonds he started 30 years ago. We knew this could happen. He did take some out of his pension. Last year there was a higher bond. This year not so big. To help cover Federals not sure how much more leaves less for food, bills etc. I am hoping our cc gets paid off from my pt check. Then have to save money for windows. A couple of other things but not sure if we can afford higher property tax.

At the place I work at the facility manager is season ticket holder and big fans of a local college here. They will be in AZ playing and that person plans to go and have fun to. Be gone for three days. I’m not a sports fan. Though Dancing is coming in one more week. I told my sister I wonder who will be booted off first Christi Alley perhaps.

It’s too bad those high yield bonds aren’t in in your retirement plan. It’s also too bad Hubby didn’t put some into higher yield preferred shares. Capital gains and qualified dividends do provide a more favorable after-tax yield. I think you may need to talk to someone who can help you with budgeting & financial planning.

Bonds may be safer to hold - particularly Government bonds, but I would not hold a large sum outside of a tax-deferred retirement plan, unless I had sufficient resources to pay the consequences - in additional deductions from my pay, or if retired - in tax installments.

Kab, to bad you can’t afford to make installment payments. Paying interest to the Feds is so wrong - especially since there are very rare circumstances that they will pay interest to you.

Grog are you kidding since when would Federal pay interest to tax payers. They will go after someone if they are late owing on taxes. Federal and their budgets. I wish they would take a furlough themselves know how others feel when they have to take furloughs.

BTW, I’ve heard it said that a significant other can significantly cure squinky brains–and even if it doesn’t cure it, you don’t care, as long as the remedy is applied thoroughly enough.

I don’t think they know how!! I am becoming disenchanted with the “powers-that-aren’t” at this website. I would like to do a St. Patrick’s Day avatar and some March Madness too. The only response I get is that “they are working on it” ????
