It shocked me when I learned there are no more Vietnam War Vets in the U.S. Army.

(When I was in the Army I actually encountered two World War One vets, one of whom had served with Pershing chasing Pancho Villa!!)

It’s been 50 years. We were bringing our troops home. Present administration didn’t get the message.

Fun fact: “Nampa” means “picking up girls” in Japanese.

Playing soldier is really NOT the same. Most vets don’t talk about it for a good reason.

Does he “love the smell of gunpowder in the morning?”_ (And, yes the actual quote refers to something horrific of which I definitely don’t approve!)

At least he had a blast at summer camp. High point of his life.

Yuh. Bringing what was left of the troops home from a place where we never should have been. Nobody ever gets the message. Should have dropped the experiment after Cain and Abel.

Nampa is just outside Boise, ID. So, it was a suburban camp.

Unfortunately people are inclined to augment, exaggerate, or even fabricate their experiences. War stories should be heard respectfully but with grains of salt unless there’s some reason you require their validation. One good place to start if validation IS required is the person’s birth date as compared to the date of the purported event(s). I’m personally aware of a man who would have been 14 at the date of his claimed Vietnam combat firefight. Stolen Valor instances are regrettable, but sadly happen.

Stolen Valor is something up with which I cannot put. Get that cur outta my sight before I do something I might regret! —Like a pocket rocket up his backside….
