I saw some government figures (Weather Service, USGS, someone like that; I disremember exactly which) that showed that there was a warm peak in the 1890s, and it got steadily cooler until the late ’70s, and has been getting exponentially warmer ever since.
So, kiddies, when we old farts say “This is nothing; we had real winters when I was a kid” – we have scientific proof!

Add “in recorded history” to the end of her statement and I might tend to agree with it.
