Stopped on a hike with some friends and all of our dogs (four that hike) for a rest on some rock slabs in a stream. I sat down, back against a bolder, and our pup promptly curled up in my lap. She was joined, along both legs, by our friends two dogs and her daughters Great Dane, who choose to lean against my side and lay his 40 pound head across the back of my neck. Nice rest.

Successful transfer completed, then Gumbo wakes and decides it’s snack time.

I think Gumbo should be depicted more often in this strip, even as a part of the background. For us our dog is part of the family and is almost always hanging out with us, even if we we are not engaged with her at every moment.

No problem, the dog will snuggle back down with whoever is there.

Clearly they need another dog – so the dogs can sleep together uninterrupted. :)
