I was told to never answer that question because then you’re admitting fault. What’s worse is if you answer with something illegal that the cop didn’t even pull you over for. “I accidentally ran that red light back there.”
Cop: Oh really? I pulled you over for your taillight being out. I didn’t get behind you until after you had gone through that intersection so I had no idea you had ran a red. Hmmm….
