Why are you going to all of the trouble to label everything? By the end of the first day, all supplies will be in one pile so that all children will have equal supplies whether they could afford them or not. At least that is the policy here.
Step one, buy those ink stamps you can make yourself and an ink pad. Step two, insert letters to write the name of the kid.Step three: use stamp on every item.

A piece of colored tape works as well. Much easier to identify in a pile of supplies.
