So let me get this straight… Americans call football, soccer and they call a rugby ball, a football ?

Why a football is called pigskin – was first used = pig bladder…. Americans call football, football AND soccer, soccer. Rugby is just a foreign term. Like scrum. And I wish they didn’t ruin Baseball by trying to play two games in LONDON. Begging for dollars. Spending billions.

What’s odd Hurricane is to see a pitcher that pitches left handed – hit right handed. Now there’s an odd ball.

In “This Sporting Life” of 1963 Richard Harris’ character plays rugby, which he calls “football.” With some children he plays association football and calls it “soccer.” He also says, “We don’t have stars in this game, Mrs. Weaver. That’s soccer.” So even in the U. K. usage varies, it seems.

The answer to that question is a definite yes. Don’t attempt to go any further in explaining. Interesting though it might be. I too have a similar situation. I throw a football, baseball etc with my right hand; yet I shoot baskets with my left in basketball……

Most right handed people kick from the left side, but they use their right foot.
