A lot of icons look like the old fashioned thing.

Yep, the phone icon on my Samsung looks like a phone receiver. The calendar looks like a paper page, the camera is a Kodak Brownie and the radio is a transistor radio.

“Save” icons that look like floppy disks.

That wimpy 3.5" icon doesn’t look anything like my 8" floppies.

There are plenty of people alive right now who have never seen a landline phone, a camera, a radio, a tape recorder, a typewriter, or any of the other devices that a smartphone has replaced. I wonder what future icons will be based on?

Well, that’s better than the old Apple arcanes. Tiny pixelated blobs.

They couldn’t get enough detail into the lady at the switchboard for the phone icon.
