As a comic strip, Louie playing with a stick is great. In real life, sticks can be a real danger for dogs. For for example, sticks can be lodged in a dog’s throat or upper part of his palate. They can ingest a part of a stick or they can pick a stick that is toxic. Lots of other examples as well. Most of the readers here probably know the dangers.
I’d play “fetch” with my Jack Russell. I’d throw a terrier-sized stick, he’d run past it and find the biggest tree branch in the park and proceed to drag it back to me to throw instead…

My cat Willow ,loves her sticks, especially the ones from our Elder bushes!!
Even more so if you attach a piece of string to them!
