Parenting IS home-schooling, or should be! Good parents teach by example. I learned to be honest when I was two years old. To attempt to be dishonest in any way was the ultimate transgression in our household. Once honesty is ingrained in a child, the rest comes easily. “Always tell the truth; then you don’t have to remember what you said.” Unfortunately, truth is a rare commodity in our current distorted American society. Hopefully, one fine day, things will get back to normal. Without truth, all else crumbles.
I wonder what all the people who can’t teach their children how to use a can opener or exit a bus safely or cross a street without getting hit*… are doing? Probably in an ICU somewhere. *All comments based on actual news stories and/or lawsuits.
I have heard people at work/school/anywhere complain about how hard it is to help children with their homework, etc. during the pandemic because they don’t know the material or have been out of school for years. I used to teach and tutor and I volunteered my services (for free) to help them with their education, homework and so forth. Can you believe nobody took me up on my offer?
