Maybe they underestimated him. They should be prepared for this.

And after a few years Calvin will be so proud of this feat.

Few days ago I read a few comments by some CnH followers deriding fellow followers for their not so impeccable hold over English grammar.

comments by Travis were not so courteous).

I came across today’s “For Better or For Worse” that was marred by, at least, two grammatical mistakes.

http://www.gocomics.com/comic_page/explore/899097?page=10 (corrections are … more raisins than I have… and … he got his legs…)

Wonder who will comment on so gross usage of grammar? We can be more tolerant to people whose English is not so proficient. We ourselves make umpteen obscure mistakes.

After a LONG time, I can imagine Mom and Dad laughing about this incident. On a more short term basis, Calvin is in for it BIG TIME! He’s done a lot of mischievous, naughty things, but this one is serious.

goferrari28, …good observation! It’s likely that the fire hydrant is already ‘going to the dogs’. Ironically, if the car had hit the fire hydrant, it might have been stopped from going into the ravine.

Mike Firesmith said, Julius Caesar said, “Which death is preferably to every other? The unexpected.”

Julius Caesar ‘lived’ up to his saying! …”Et tu, Brute?” Does it prove that “the pen is mightier than the sword”…or the sword is mightier than the pen? …or both?

“My life is flashing before my eyes.” I suppose that includes “women wearing tight clothes” (thanks to Hobbes’ influence). Calvin is in a rather tight situation, himself.

Montana Lady - Evidently you missed my ID of Marg’s avatar the other day. Maude Fealy was a stage and silent film star of the 20’s but most notable as a playwrite and screen writer.

Moronbis - Remember Dizzy Dean? After a brilliant career with the St Louis Cardinals, he became a baseball broadcaster. English teachers all across America tried to have him censored for his terrible grammar. One of his favorites was, “He slud into second base.” I heard him say one time, “… which hardly no umpire don’t never do no more.”

moronbis, It’s the two little kids that are making the grammatical mistakes in “For Better or for Worse”. However, the gratuitous use of ‘got’ bothers me. It’s very common, in general. Usually have, has, or had is sufficient (without got).

Good morning all! Well, it’s Monday! Have a great week! Probably Calvin’s best bet is to just deny everything. After all, if he didn’t take the car out of park or put it in neutral, then his mom might think it just rolled out by itself. I know that Newton’s first law says SOMETHING has to get it moving, but maybe mom was weak in Physics.

Calvin you can always say that ” you were sitting in the can listen to the radio when a car jacker came by and you were car jacked. He throw you and as he was leaving he wrecked the car, ” I just know Hobbes will back you up ..At least you will live to get another year older. And Calvin to make it look real put some dirt on your clothes and cry just a little.

I have a feeling that the “barefoot bandit” that they finally caught in the Bahamas, after a two year chase, must have been very similar to Calvin as a young boy, with a mind that was constantly thinking up some grand new adventure.

Calvin, just whip out the old credit card and get a tow truck to haul it out of the ditch. It’ll be fine, and your dumb folks will never know the difference, once you and Hobbes clean the grass and mud out of the grill. Been there, done that.

Calvins to smart to become a barefoot bandit.I was selling my wifes old car parked on the front lawn, when the lad came to mow the front lawn.the fun started. To move it I needed keys, I got the wrong ones ,went back to the house to get the right keys came back no car.the kid mowing the lawn never seen it move. When we found the car it was 100 ft away looked just like Calvins mess. No one got hurt. and every one even the wrecker driver stretched the truth a bit to make small of it.

Hobbes is unusually ascerbic in this one, and he is right on the mark, as usual. Instead of sending away for a beanie, Calvin should apply for the “Drive Much These Days” award. If he gets it, the look on his mother’s face when she answers the door and finds that the guy standing there is there to award Calvin the look on her face should be worthy of being put in the Louvre.
