Huh. Two important life lessons in conflict. Teach Kenny to work for his money, as he’s expecting, or cultivate a giving heart through charity and expect nothing in return.
As someone who is on the street every weekend feeding the homeless in San Diego, I get so much more than I give.
Fair warning though Kenny, this can break your heart, especially when someone who you thought was on the road to a better life, falls. If they are still among the living (some don’t make it), we give them sandwiches, fruit, water, warm socks, and encouragement.

Kenny, it’s not a job, it’s volunteering. You do it for free.

Time to explain what a volunteer job is.

Kenny doesn’t mention that it is volunteer work. He says Job. Of course he would expect to get paid for a job.

Work isn’t necessarily a job. Effort isn’t always work.
