I had a cousin who counted whether she got more than her brother. I almost didn’t give her a present that year. Unfortunately, she had alrady seen it.

We got one each for 8 days – no competition. Plus whatever our aunts/uncles and grandparents thought we would like – one gift each from each pair.

My crazy SIL buys each of her 2 daughters 64 gifts each Christmas (and sometimes there duplicate items in one’s gifts – such as when younger one got a doctor set and a veterinarian’s set which had the same pieces in both sets). For some reason she has it in her head that their parents used to buy them each 64 gifts. I know her since she was 11 – she did not either get anywhere near that number of gifts nor did husband. She insists she used to count them.

Husband figured out she must have counted all the gifts under the tree and in her mind ALL the gifts were for her – only thing either of us can think of.

And I am not talking small gift items (such as would have been 50 cents/a dollar when I was young).
