If there’s one thing I learned from the Robert Aldrich-directed “… All The Marbles,” it’s that you need to hit the crooked Ref hard – over and over – till he calls the match square.

As Daffy Duck would say: “So you wanna play rough, do ya? Well i’m just the one to oblige.”

Bet the referee has been paid off by the Skippers, this is no longer a game against a rival team but against corruption!

Panel#3: I think Mashew meant to say karma is his “game” and he always wins, even with a helmet he must’ve suffered some head damage.

Broken referees all around?

I just got bear’s reply from yesterday, and are you serious bear? this entire arc started late August, and it’s going to last till next august? there better be an intermission arc with something off-topic.

Some players have been able to continue with broken limbs.

Jack Youngblood played the superbowl with a broken left fibula (left leg). A number of players have continued with a fractured (non-throwing arm) hands and arms. Recently Russel Wilson continued playing after breaking his middle finger on his throwing hand.

Tampa Offensive Guard Alex Cappa broke his arm during Sunday’s game but played the entire game with it. In fact the coaches said, he hid his injury so well, that watching game films – nobody knew his arm was broken. This is a guy that routinely wrestles with other 280 lb linemen to protect Tom Brady.

And famously, Ronnie Lot lobbed off his finger tip after splitting it and splintering the bone rather than let it be a distraction for his game. Crazy yes, but here its all for the SUPPER BOWL.

At first I was thinking Hubbs could “Bo Jackson” to Mashew’s “Brian Bosworth”…but now I think he shoud do something else.

Remember in the Longest Yard when Burt Reynolds let the end rush in then hammered him in the knap sack? With Hubb’s velocity, the guy is as good as neutered. No way he catches it, so loss of a down, and start again!

Man, I hope Hubbs will be able to do his Pinball maneuver. It may be his (and his team’s) only hope!

Hubbs will have to “Longest yard” the referee’s end zone a few times to get him to call fair.

Someone said it a few day’s back that Mashew is looking a bit like Clay Mathews today’s panel 3 sure adds to that thought!

Less “The Longest Yard” and more “The Long Haul” …

The influence of manga/anime art on Bea’s style is pretty apparent in that third panel of “Mashew”.

Yeah… those of you who didn’t better put those cups on.
