Stuff on the right is deceptively expensive. For Lent a few years ago, we stopped buying all cookies, snacks, chips, etc. and haven’t gone back. Saved about $40/mo per person.
The expense on the left is for healthy convenience foods. Anything with a shelf life is not as good for you. Buy fresh. Eat as much of it raw as possible, and take the time to cook the rest yourself. You’ll find it is no more expensive than the high shelf life stuff on the right - just takes more time.
