My SIL is growing Scorpion peppers. His hot sauce will flat-out kill you. But boy is it good.

A friend of mine once told me that instead of drinking water to cool off spicy food, as water makes the pain worse, I should eat a slice or two of bread. It worked!

To paraphrase Dirty Harry Callihan, “A person needs to know their limitations!”.

The mother of a guy I worked with made some very hot salsa. It smelled delicious. One drop on a chip made my teeth hurt.

I made the mistake of purchasing some soup that I didn’t read the label. I thought that the company just spiced it up a little and I couldn’t eat it and THEN I read the label. It was at the extreme level of spiciness. I still have another can and nobody wants it.

Reminds me of when I tried some Japanese friend’s kimchee.

One year, living in the barrio, the don of the hill sent over some salsa. My wife described it as the hottest stuff she had ever tasted. When the don asked her how she liked it, she said, “It had some heat”. He said, “I can make it hotter.”

Why do people like hot food – especially hot food that is like this? If there is too much white/black pepper in something I find it inedible.
