Assisted Living managers will tell you, once you reach a certain age, you can actually shorten your life by worrying too much and taking away life’s little joys. They see it all the time, and is why the one we chose for the parents allowed (encouraged?) a little wine with dinner, cocktail hours and a varied menu. “Special diets” actually have a negative effect.
Someone invested a pile of money in that nursing home.. best you pay the rent for a few years. And, think of all the underpaid workers that would be without even that. Stop being selfish.. it’s not just about you.

It’s a tough one all right. We just can’t know. It’s okay to be careful, but don’t make yourself miserable.
