    I thought in a past strip, Red tried to see the St. Louis Gateway Arch from a hill near his home. If he really does live in Seattle, he’s a LONG way from St. Louis.

    Arthur Allen: It is as easy as seeing Russia from an Anchorage suburb!

    I remember a conversation with a Russian merchant captain in 1975 on the subject of the cold war. I mentioned I never understood that panic over Russians in Cuba “only 90 miles from the US” when there was a major naval base only 12 miles away. He looked puzzled and then the traditional light bulb turned on over his head. “Diomede!”, he exclaimed. This was in Vancouver, which is why I question Red being in Seattle – hardly any rain.
