Georgia comes in third for US peach production, behind California and South Carolina.

Good peaches are WONDERFUL. But, back while we lived ā€œup northā€ we went through about 5 years of peaches being awful: pithy texture, little flavor and brownish color. I guessed that it was some combination of picking them too early and taking too long to get them to our markets. We stopped buying them for a long time. Fortunately, we now live in central NC and are able to get excellent peaches.

ꔃ (momo) is ā€œpeachā€ in japanese. Ā ę”ƒå(momoko), literally, ā€œpeach childā€, is a popular girlā€™s name. sometimes itā€™s just ā€œmomo.ā€ iā€™m trying to picture an english speakerā€™s reaction if a gal walked up and said, ā€œhi, my name is peachesā€¦ā€
