Around last turn of the century (1900s), immigrants were also not so well. How do you expect to have a better life in a new country when you’re treated as dirt just like back in the old country?

People tend to forget that unless you are native American that your background likely came from immigrants we are after all a nation of immigrants.

And dont try to compare immigration laws today to immigration in the early 1900 hundreds it is next to impossible to win legal status now unless your wealthy which something most people fleeing their country are not .

Even so-called “native” Americans immigrated from elsewhere. They just did it WAY before the rest of us. My Grandfather, on my Mother’s side, emigrated from Denmark to Canada and then apparently walked over the border into the U.S. of A. So I’m a descendant of an illegal immigrant.

Ever notice, when someone SCREAMS “Speak English” and/or tells someone to go back where they came from —it is always a POC. Never hear that Sh*+ when someone is speaking German or French or Swedish, or Italian (unless they are dark and from Sicily perhaps), etc., etc. Think about it.

Perhaps Mexico should invite some Russians to immigrate, then harass them a little so that Russia will invade. That way Mexican refugees will become beloved displaced patriots. Just saying.

I’m kind of irritated at the continuing misuse of the word “native”. If you were born in this country, you’re a native of this country, regardless of where your ancestors came from. Or how long ago. Furthermore (and far more importantly for legal reasons), according to the US Constitution, if you were born in this country you’re a citizen of this country.
