I guess that Johnny Hart, one of the all-time greats, was just trying to show us that not even the Greats are consistently great. We’ll just call it a “contrast gag.”

Too bad, One moment of glory turned into one of misery.

There’s a moral here about speaking too soon…something I’m guilty of upon occasion, regrettably.

Unfortunately this strip was originally published long before Kenny Rogers advised us all not to count our money while we’re sitting at the table. Snake could have taken a lesson from that.

My mom had a similar relationship with snakes.
