Mum’s got a point. The side comment is so right, especially when we get older. It fades even faster.

Back when I was a kid, my mother wanted me to do the dishes. So I said, “Next commercial?” and she responded “Okay.” Almost an hour later she realized I was watching PBS which has no commercials.

Next time try, “I’ll do it as soon as I’m done with this, Mom”
