^ âSendingâ oneâs âthoughts and prayersâ may result in some sort of positive feedback for the sender ^^, but a person or persons identified as recipients never have any idea what the sender thinks or feels.
And as for the supposed entity prayer is supposed to impact, well, A) prove it exists, and weâll proceed from that event; B) such entity as presented in the Abrahamic religious ideology supposedly is 1) omnipotent and 2) omniscient [âHEâ obviously has been aware that this Robb Elementary shooting is on his schedule of events] so, as Epicurus asked some 2300 years ago, âIs God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then he is not omnipotent. Is he able, but not willing? Then he is malevolent.â
And what is prayer supposed to accomplish in this instance (or ever, for that matter), anyway? Isnât âGodâ aware not only of the shooting in the school, but also the entirety of its aftermath, including its effects on the schoolchildren, their families/friends, and all the others in the building?
Is your prayer a plea to âGodâ to change any post-shooting scenario already known to âGodâ from the instant at the âbeginningâ when he created everything which exists using his omniscience along with all his other faculties?
Isnât your prayer an insult to the omniscience of âGodâ?
Does your prayer risk the wrath of this âGodâ, who in accordance with the Biblical âhistoricalâ account could well be enraged by the fact that you try to exert some sort of post hoc influence on âHimâ following an event that is obviously a part of âHisâ eternal plan?
I donât think Christians have thought this whole âprayersâ thing through in any way sufficiently. And donât get me started on the stupid âthoughtsâ cliche.
@*Isnrchard.1* Your heathen rant and rage is well understood. What? What, may be asked, suddenly and unprovoked brought your atheistic, agnosticâ-or, otherwise Satanic beliefs to this cartoon strip? Those of faith are notâtaken abackâ with your bluster of disbelief. The opinion and questions posited are all understandable; but, they are set aside as Satanically inspired garbage. Now! You have had âyour sayâ. And, I have had mine. It is my hope and prayer that we will not ever meet.
ââŠfor pencil-necks and people who understand it and Iâm telling you here and now, and a lot of people are saying this, I am NOT one of those people!â
