Ok… some further explanation…. especially for those outside the US.
As Rekam said, UPS is “United Parcel Service”.
A well known private parcel delivery service.
Its drivers are NOT known as postmen.
Postman is a somewhat old fashioned word for an official US Mail carrier.
He (or nowadays she) works for USPS … the United States Postal Service, which officially delivers the US Mail, both letters and packages. .You’re supposed to know that when Dan makes an extremely s t r e t c h e d pun about a “postman”, he can’t be a UPS driver.
As for the joke… it’s simply a pun on the movie title…as Superfrog pointed out, “The Postman Always Rings Twice.”
“Brings Mice” instead of “Rings Twice”.
They’re talking about rodent delivery only to set up the pun.
They’re hugging because the movie is a convoluted tale about infidelity, the wife persuading her lover to kill her husband.

UPS brings Puppies. United Puppy Service. Federal Eggspress brings Easter baskets for when things absolutely must be hidden overnight.

I’m continually surprised by Dan’s puns, there’s something better about them. Maybe it’s the setup.

I delivered mail for 40 years. I have delivered boxes of live baby chicks, but never delivered mice, but I always rang twice.
