I’ve never heard of “belling” a dog. Even belling a cat is futile. Birds don’t know what the sound means until it’s too late. All it does is alert other cats in the neighborhood as to their location and they get beat up. I speak from expensive experience.
Satch is cute with his bell on! (Though shame on Bucky, lol). I actually had to “bell” one of our dogs. We had rescued her from near-starvation in the nearby woods. We provided her with bountiful amounts of food, but she had a habit of lining up bits of kibble to attract (and attack) wild birds. I think she had developed this method to avoid starvation in her previous life. I had a cockatiel, and he had a copper bell in his cage that he loved to ring. I took the bell (and replaced it with a new one) and put it on Ms. Bird Hunter’s collar so that the birds at least had a chance to hear her when she was on the prowl!

Now give Satchel a drum stick, and let him join a band.

You’re supposed to bell the cat, according to the old story.

I am constantly amazed that a) Bucky is so mean, b) Satchel is so naive, & c) Rob is so … whatever.
