Dogs don’t sweat, so panting, lying in water, or digging down to cool dirt are their options for cooling off. Even in the air-conditioned house, belly down on the cool tile cools them faster than curling up on the couch.
reminds me of one summer i had basement apt with no a/c or circulation, temps were close to 110, humidity was almost 100 percent. only things i had to keep cool was a fan, and water bed without heater. with only thin sheet on it, was very cool.
Yeah, we had one little doggie who would lay on the tile in the front hall when it was hot. When I saw her doing that, I would add chilled water to the dogs’ water bowl. They didn’t like ice floating in it, but they did like an addition of chilled water every now and then.
