Reminds me of my freshman year in college. Had a friend who lived above a garage, and painted his “found” sofa with scenery paint ( theatre major, don’tcha know.) Every time I sat on it, I wound up with a black bottom!
The pickers go through the stacks behind the apartments and dorms after every semester and put it in their second-hand stores, A lot of it is new, unused, and in the original box. It is a major college town industry.

I still have a table I bought back in college. It’s sturdy metal legs. I use it for remote work.
