I might be one of the few fathers who ever encouraged his daughter to move in with her boyfriend, but it was an easy call. They were dating during the pandemic, and both working remotely. She’d spend several days a week at his place anyway. My wife and I had already met him and our daughter kept us in the loop about how things were going. And he really stepped up when we both had Covid, driving her around for groceries and other things we needed and helping her drop them at our door. Eventually it was obvious to all concerned that they were on the road to engagement; at the same time, our daughter was three months from the renewal date on her apartment lease. After discussing it, I told her I thought they needed to have “the talk” about moving in. They talked, and she did.
That was in June 2021. They got married last September.
