Don’t feel bad, Norman — I have the same problem when I go to the hospital. Obedience is ingrained in us in kindergarten. It takes most folks a long time, if ever, to learn that authority is the enemy. One should always be one’s own master. This fundamental principle of secular Zen should be taught in kindergarten. But nooo; instead we are taught to be sheep that always go with the flock. Baaaa!
I was in a hospital for tests, in different departments. The first gave me a wrist strap. The next asked me to pull out all my IDs and reveal my personal data again to everyone in the waiting area. Then again in the third. I asked, “can’t you just scan the strap, or read it?” No, of course not. “So why do you put on the wrist strap?” The answer was along the lines of in case I fell down unconscious, they could identify me.
I got a new wrist band each Chemo visit. The wrist band was scanned numerous times throughout each visit, especially before addition of new meds into the IV. The Chemo Nurse cut off the band or I just popped it off after the treatment.

And don’t get it wet, either … even if it did come from a water park. (Ba-Da-Bing … Good one, Wendy!)

Taking instructions a little TOO literally, huh, Norm?

Probably ok to take it off once the park closes for the season

OK, we get that Wendy has no respect for Norm. And yes, he’s naive. But she doesn’t have to treat him so unpleasantly.

Hospitals should use biodegradable bands in case some of their customers are like Norm.

Think, Norm! What would Nurse Ratched say?

Might be a good idea for the next time you go to the water park.
