My only real issue with this arc is the lack of any adults or high schoolers present, as having been to an actual pokemon event with a friend once, the age range can be mixed, and it feels very “ONLY KIDS CAN BE INTO THIS KIND OF THING” to say it’d be empty without them, which is a pet peeve of mine in media. That being said I don’t think Steenz intended this and likely just had anyone over dean’s age absent simply because it made the story move faster, it just feels weird.
