A man after my own heart except for the t-shirt. Between a CF bleacher ticket (I found a PERFECT aisle), the bus rides and the Dollar Tree hard candy, gum and pouches of Wyler’s lemonade I’d load up on before the season, I usually spent about $15 for everything to watch an MLB game in person.

I wish the Major League franchises (MLB, NFL, NHL, NBA) would learn a lesson from the minor league club who have those dollar nights. The Masters also has a menu at Augusta where everything is priced between one and 4 dollars for food and beer at $5 a can. They realize that they rake in enough money without having t gouge the fans on food and drink. Here in FL a lot of the FSL clubs here on the Gulf Coast have nights where you can get hot dogs, soda and popcorn for a dollar and cheaper beer at aroound $2 a draft at the Tampa Yankees, Bradenton Marauders and also The Fort Myers Miracle (now called the Mighty Mussels). Sad thing though is that several of the minor league franshises in the FSL shut down (including clubs in St Pete, Sarasota, Port Charlotte, and more) when MLB pared back the number of minor league franchises each club will support, a true tragedy caused by greedy ownership.

The Rays are offering a September promotion for its games with some discounted tickets (some under $10) and a value menu with hot dogs, nachos, soda, popcorn etc, not dollar night but better than the $5 or $6 plus they normally charge for those items..

Everybody hates inflation, especially those who just want to watch an old fashioned sports game.

He’s got a good system going, but nothing’s perfect. He can wear the shirt again when they do it next year

I know this will come off as the nostalgic blatherings of an old man, but when I lived in St. Louis 30 years ago, you could get a bleacher ticket to a Cards game at Busch Stadium, pay for parking, get a beer and a pretzel (or hot dog), and it didn’t cost more than $20. Heck, even going to a St. Louis Blues hockey game wasn’t that expensive.

“Fandom collects. Absolute fandom collects everything”. Said to me by L Lois Buhalis at an anime convention in the early 1990s with a 1 meter stuffed Catbus (from My Neighbour Totoro) that at the time was priced at $1.00 per millimeter. It has since gone down in price in the last 30 years or so, but this was the 10th one to be brought over from Japan.

You can take the subway to Mets&Yankee games,so I’ve always licked parking fees.Oh,but the price of souvenirs!!

What happened to the booths where you could get a tape of yourself broadcasting the game for a full inning?(for a price,of course)
