As a Manager that has played Substitute-Manager before for a place that was waiting for the full-on manager to get there, I can promise you it doesn’t matter if you do get the place reorganized. The new manager won’t like things and will feel the need to rearrange things to their own liking. And as they should. It’s THEIR store. They need things where they know they will be, not where I think they should go.
Cleaning up the new store would probably increase the chances of getting stuck with it permanently. Also, the new person has to change everything; nobody gets recognized for seeing a good thing and leaving it that way.
